Welcome to the Musicnotes app design testing! Musicnotes is an online service for purchasing, downloading, marking up, and printing sheet music. You have been recruited today to help us test the functionality and intuitiveness of the new app. You will be given three tasks, one at a time. To help us best understand your thinking processes, we kindly ask you to think aloud, and we may ask guiding questions to assist in the process. There are no wrong answers, and we cannot provide hints as the test is based on your opinions and instincts of the platform. We may takes notes or recordings of your actions and responses for quality assurance purposes. All collected data will be kept confidential. You are not being tested or graded, but you can choose to end the test at any time. We thank you for your time and input. Do you have any questions before we begin?

Lo-fi Analysis
The low fidelity prototype for the Musicnotes app was very simple to execute. After drawing out all the screens on paper and writing out the tasks, I gave the tasks one at a time to 4 individuals (3 in class, 1 at home). On the first task, all participants made the same comment: Tapping the log in with Google or log in with Facebook buttons should satisfy the requirement of creating an account. Additionally, I noticed in the second task that all participants tapped the search icon, “typed” in their terms, and expected the screen to change without tapping Enter or the search icon again. Not sure if that is relevant to the lo-fi, but I found it an interesting observation. Thirdly, I received feedback from one participant that alternate payment methods, such as PayPal or Apple Pay should be accepted and a secure checkout certification should be obtained. Also don’t know if that is within the lo-fi’s scope, but it is valuable feedback nonetheless.
The lo-fi prototype has revealed some interesting insights into the user experience of the Musicnotes app. I have concluded I will reevaluate the login screen. I will also determine if the current search bar design is frustrating. Finally, I will improve the checkout process to accommodate new payment methods.
